The Free Taste of Old Town North on September 21st offered fun for all ages with Art in the Park with Arts on the Horizon, a poetry reading by Alexandria City Poet Laureate of winning haiku from the Haiku Project, shopping with vendors of the Old Town North Thursday and Sunday Markets, sampling wonderful food and drink from Hank’s Oyster BarJula’s on the PotomacLost Boy CiderSt. Elmo’s Old Town North and Yunnan by Potomac.

Council member Alyia Gaskins opened the Taste and kicked off the concert with local favorites Sally and the Mander and New Breed Soul Consortium.

The Annual Taste of Old Town North in Montgomery Park is Free, Family-Friendly, and Pet-Friendly and offers activities for all ages, shopping with vendors from the Old Town North Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market, samplings of menu specialties from participating restaurants, and live music!

We are delighted that Alexandria City Mayor Justin Wilson will open the Annual Taste of Old Town North at 4 pm on Thursday, September 19th, 2024.

The tradition continues! Taste of Old Town North celebrates the food, music, shops, and people of Alexandria neighborhood

Come enjoy the best local food, music and more at the Taste of Old Town North! The Taste will take place Thursday, September 19, 4:00- 8:00 p.m., in Montgomery Park, 901 North Royal Street, Alexandria, VA.

The Taste of Old Town North is a free, family-and pet-friendly event featuring an artisans’ market, gourmet restaurant tastings, children’s improv with Alexandria Children’s Theater and other activities for all to enjoy, and music from two local bands. Participating Old Town North restaurants include Jula’s on the Potomac, the Perfect Pita, Hank’s Oyster Bar, MacMillan Spirit House, Hotel AKA Alexandria’s a.lounge+bar, St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub, and Royal Restaurant.

Alexandria’s Old Town North is a walkable, vibrant and diverse community located next to the Potomac River and seven miles from our nation’s capital. The neighborhood hosts a variety of businesses, restaurants, residences, and parks.

The Taste of Old Town North is a tradition I look forward to every year,” says Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson. “The energy and community spirit this event generates is a joy to be a part of. I applaud all our local restaurants, businesses, entrepreneurs, and residents; along with those who visit Old Town North to experience all we have to offer.

Two local bands will perform at the Taste of Old Town North. Sally and the Little Ghost will perform from 5:00- 6:00 p.m., followed by the Mod with Joe Herrera from 6:00-7:45 p.m.

Several local non-profit organizations will provide information on their activities, and opportunities to volunteer including the League of Women Voters, Hunger Free Alexandria, Alive!, and Volunteer Alexandria.

Alexandria Children’s Theater will provide children’s activities, including improv. 

On street parking is available in the Old Town North neighborhood or public parking located at 625 North Washington Street.
